“…and put on the regenerated and renewed nature, created in God’s image, in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Therefore, rejecting all falsehood [whether lying, defrauding, telling half-truths, spreading rumors] SPEAK THE TRUTH EACH ONE TO HIS NEIGHBOR…”
Though the truth about most matters is difficult to ascertain these days, it is imperative that we search diligently for it so that it is the dominating characteristic of our communication with others. Though it may not be popular to be truthful at all times, it builds a reputation for integrity and shows you can be trusted for your honesty. There is also being “set free” by the truth instead of being enslaved by lies and pleasing God by obeying his commandments.
